A self Portrait. I didn't block out the clutter in the photo and I don't plan to. I think it complements the piece well.

Community I

Community I is the first in a series that explores the idea of community. All wood I find is currently from the Gowanus, Brooklyn area, and in this project the wood is sewn together. There is no glue, no nails, no other adhesives, just the rope holding it all together. While Gowanus is still an active industrial area, it is gentrifying quickly and thus the neighborhood (like so many others across the globe) is quickly changing. All of my pieces reference environmental sustainability. In addition to that, the pieces in the Community series reference sustainability as it relates to communities undergoing gentrification.
